Who we are

First Hour Club (“First Hour Club”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a private, invite-only club of business owners who support each other’s social posts within the first hour of publishing. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who applies to, or is a member of, the club.

Information we collect

We only collect information needed to run the club. Specifically:

  • Account details — your name, email address, and a password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form, never in plain text).
  • Business profile — the information you choose to add: business name, your role, city and country, category, tagline, description, services, target audience, year started, and the social or contact links you share (Instagram, website, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, phone, preferred contact method).
  • Images — a business logo and a representative photo, if you upload them.
  • Club activity — the post links (“windows”) you drop, the engagement you record on other members’ posts, comments, partnership requests and messages you send or receive, wins you post, and members you follow.
  • Device & push tokens — if you use the mobile app and allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send you alerts (for example, when a new window opens).
  • Communications — emails we send you (such as sign-in, password reset, and club notifications) and any messages you send us.
  • Basic technical data — standard server and app logs (such as request timestamps and error information) used to keep the service secure and working.

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your membership and profile.
  • To operate the core features of the club — windows, engagement, the member directory, partnership requests, and wins.
  • To send you service messages such as sign-in links, password resets, and notifications you have opted into.
  • To keep the club safe — preventing abuse, enforcing the club rules, and moderating reported content.
  • To respond to your questions and support requests.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for third-party advertising, and there are no ads or in-app purchases in the app.

How your information is shared

Your business profile and club activity are visible to other members of the club — that is the point of the directory and the windows feed. Your password is never visible to anyone. Beyond other members, we share information only with the service providers that help us run the club, and only as needed:

  • Vercel — website and app-server hosting, and image storage (Vercel Blob).
  • Supabase — the database that stores member and club data.
  • Resend — sending our transactional and notification emails.
  • Expo — delivering push notifications to the mobile app.

These providers act on our instructions under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of the club and its members.

Sessions and cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies and tokens to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as you are a member. If you leave the club or ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile and personal data, except where we need to keep limited records to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.

Your rights and choices

  • Access or correct your profile information at any time from your account settings.
  • Turn push notifications on or off from your device settings.
  • Request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and personal information, by emailing club@thefirsthourclub.ca.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as Canada’s PIPEDA or the EU/UK GDPR, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below.

Account & data deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by emailing club@thefirsthourclub.ca. We will confirm and complete the deletion within a reasonable period.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to address any issues promptly.

Where your data is processed

First Hour Club serves members in Canada and beyond, and our providers may process and store data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Where information is transferred across borders, it remains protected by this policy and by our providers’ safeguards.

Children

The club is for business owners and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Links to other services

Member profiles may link to external sites such as Instagram, LinkedIn, or a business website. Those services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify members.
